Okay so you are asking what is she talking about... Well I decided to go ahead and join a very unique blog hop. Gail @My Repurposed Life and MeganDVD @ Beauty in the Attempt are hosting “The Bold and the Beautiful-your blog reviewed”.
In all honesty I haven't been blogging on an even remotely regular basis because I hate my blog! When I started this blog it was primarily a means of keeping family and friends posted on our life in Alaska, to "showcase" the crafts I was working on, and maybe even through in a recipe or two. Well life happened at a shockingly rapid pace... and I wasn't prepared! Now the name bugs me, the layout just isn't working, and well... I don't know. I'm discouraged plain and simple. In all honesty I've been thinking of closing the blog down permanently but haven't been able to bring myself to do it. I want this blog to work but seem at a loss....
So please take a look around my blog, check out the layout, pages, buttons, sidebar and gadgets. I would love for you to gently critique my blog. I’m hoping you will leave me some positive feedback about my blog. It would be great if you could give me constructive criticism but be sure to tell me what you like about my blog (if anything) too! Do you like my pictures? Does my blog load quickly for you? How about the font? All tips and tidbits welcome!
You are welcome to join the party, it starts Thursday night and is open for a week.
Hi, so glad you joined the party and we get to meet. Don't shut down. You have a great blog here. Believe me I know it can all get a little intimidating as sometimes I feel like I have nothing to say, show or share. Just do it when you want, no worries what everyone else is thinking.
ReplyDeleteYour name---I love it. Why does it bug you? I think it is creative, eye catching. I'm becoming a follower so we can journey together.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI'm also visiting from the hop :) I'm already a follower, so I'd hate to see you close up shop!!
I have thought the same thing about my blog. I've spent some time organizing it but I'm still not happy with it. I wish I had named mine something different as well sometimes, but it is unique and has importance and a special place for you. That's what's important. :)
Hello hello!
ReplyDeleteThe great stuff firs.t..I love the simplicity of the "projects" section on the sidebar and love your colors.
The title is a little confusing...I'm not sure what the blog will be about when I first see it, but if it means something to you, just share and keep it if you love it :) ...all personal preference, you know?
Anyway, certainly don't shut it down...you never know when you'll get bitten by the bloggy bug again and want to share share share! :)
thanks for joining in the party! Being a follower, I too hope you don't close up shop. Just blog at your pace when you want to. There are no rules in blogging! :)
ReplyDeleteI think you should download Windows Live Writer. I have recommended it to a lot of bloggers today. It's very user friendly, and makes blogging a lot more fun!
I like the colors on your blog. The name? I can never remember it, but hey! I'm old!
I can remember the pigs logs... it's the taterberries that loses me.
but it is YOUR blog, special to you!
I hope we get to do another hop, I look forward to getting together again. A few of us have stayed in touch pretty well, don't cha think?
take care!
hi Peggy!
ReplyDeleteno need to close up shop! you have a nice blog, and taking a great step by joining the blog hop! it's my first one.. and so happy i am doing it.. finding great new blogs today! yours is clean & easy to read.. how i like 'em! :)
from your blurb at the top, we have something big in common.. military hubs! we just recently retired.. so would be happy to assist you through that whopper of a step!
many blessings,
-Tracie
PS. could you explain that blog title?? LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL, you ladies are so great! Thank you!! Okay I will do my best to explain my title... Both are nicknames in our family of things we dealt with in Alaska. Pig logs are the huge chunks of wood at the base of the tree which are so insanely hard to chop for wood and 'tater berries is the taste of unripe lingonberries.
ReplyDeleteOh my dear....please do not close shop! The blogging world is a better place because of you. I believe even amid the numerous ladies and blogs out there...there are a few of us who truly treasure every person who comes into our world. I TREASURE being able to come into yours. I think you have a lovely blog....I think what you need is more support from the blogging world...and that starts right here and right now. You have mine...I am almost positive you have Gail's, and Shannon's, and Trisha Lou's...the circle may start small but I know it will grow. Let your blog be the source of your own inspiration and build it from there. I know there are days when it would be easier to close it all up...but please know....many blogger would miss you. You have such a pure soul and a loving heart...those are rare in the world...both virtual and real.
ReplyDeleteCheers~

I think your blog is great, sometimes clean and simple is the way to go. I look forward to reading more :)
ReplyDeleteHello!! In from the Blog Hop! I wold hate to see a fellow blogger throw in the towel, stick around, it's great out here ;0) I really like the colors you've picked to use on your blog and I love the name (so unique) It's nice that you've explained it a bit but Im not a huge fan of a bunch of stuff directly under a blog header. Have you thought about adding a Page (blogger lets you do this in the Add A Gadget section under Design) titled "What's in A Name?" and put your descirption there?
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a super job!
Hello. Stopping in from the Bold and Beautiful blog hop. I love the birds you have flying off to the side. I love the title. It's so interesting. It made me want to read more. Kids have the cutest names for things. Simple is good. The only thing I would say to add would be some pictures. People seem to relate to photographs. If you're concerned about security and such, think about adding photos from around your life that don't include people.
ReplyDeleteHi There! Joining also from the Blog Hop..We all have insecurities about our blogs, but find yours very easy to navigate and in it's way calming. I would hate to see you close shop and I am now a new follower. Come visit and if I can be of any help, will gladly share my limited blog knowledge with you. Lots of trial and error, but am amazed to have just gotten a blog to work. HA! I am in no way computer literate...but we all can learn something from each other.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Denise
Okay, I'm late here LOL but I have to throw in with everyone else who is encouraging you to keep things going and not close up shop. :-) Maybe check out BWO (Blogging Without Obligation) - there's a button for it on my blog. It made me feel better to just have something "official" telling folks (most especially ME!) that I don't have to be blogging a gazillion times a day.
ReplyDeleteAnd a hearty second to the suggestion to post one of the gadgets up top explaining the name of the blog - your title, should you decide to keep it, is fun but having that up there as part of an "About" page would clue new readers in. :-)
(And serve as a great reminder for people who can't always remember what it means too. *cough ME cough*)
ReplyDeleteI am new to blogging but I will still offer some advice.I really don't think it matters that much what colors or how your sidebar looks. I think that your blog should be about you and whats been going on in your world.I read a lot of blogs and that's why I read them, for their content not for their pretty colors or buttons or sidebars. Your blog is very interesting and I like what you write. You should be very proud of your posts. I would really encourage you to keep posting. Looks like a lot of other people agree!!
